Abstract: Readers are encouraged to provide photographs for publication in the Encyclopedia of Laser Physics and Technology.
I am sure that many readers of the Encyclopedia of Laser Physics and Technology are in the possession of beautiful photographs, which would be very suitable as illustrations in the encyclopedia. Therefore, I would like to encourage everyone to provide such images. Of course, their origin will be properly acknowledged.
Images of commercial products can also be suitable, if they illustrate some aspect of interest and are not too much of advertising nature. There are already such images in use, e.g. in the articles on fiber-coupled diode lasers and thin-disk lasers. I don't mind if it benefits the provider of the image, as long as it clearly benefits the readership.
It is unfortunately too late for inclusion in the print version of the encyclopedia, as discussed in The Photonics Spotlight 2008-08-15. However, photographs may be used for a possible later edition. In that case, a simple permission form will be needed, as required by the publisher, and of course also a high-resolution version of the image file. For publication in the online version, no formalities are required.
